About Me

Hi, I’m Jasmine — a Filipina Family Nurse Practitioner, storyteller, and creator behind Diary of a Nurse Practitioner. This space is where my clinical world meets my softness era: a season of un-becoming everything that wasn’t truly me, and stepping into a life rooted in authenticity, compassion, and purpose.

I’ve learned that healing is not linear, and neither is becoming. Much of my journey has been about shedding expectations—cultural, professional, personal—and rediscovering who I was always meant to be. Through writing, vlogging, and community, I’ve found meaning in sharing my truth and inviting others to find pieces of themselves in it.

My Work as a Nurse Practitioner

I am a Family Nurse Practitioner passionate about advancing equitable, evidence-based care in primary care settings.
My clinical interests include:
Hormone replacement therapy
Gender-affirming care
Weight management
Sexual and reproductive health
HIV medicine

My work is deeply influenced by my lived experience as a Filipina woman navigating—and serving—diverse, historically marginalized communities. I know firsthand the transformative power of compassionate, inclusive care.

For me, caring for patients is not just a profession—it’s a calling rooted in empathy, representation, and the desire to expand access to high-quality, affirming care. Increasing representation in clinical spaces is essential to advancing health equity and amplifying our collective voice.

Every patient brings a unique story, and it is a profound privilege to not only support their health and well-being but to be part of their journey. In my practice, I strive to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment—one where all health concerns can be addressed openly, thoughtfully, and holistically.

My goal is to break down barriers to care and promote both psychosocial and physical well-being through an approach grounded in advocacy, equity, and trust.

My Softness Era: A Return to Myself

Outside the clinic, I am a woman learning to choose gentleness in a world that once rewarded my survival mode.

This era for me is about:
• slowing down,
• healing after seasons of burnout and anxiety,
• reconnecting with my family and cultural roots,
• honoring my truth instead of hiding it,
• and building a life that feels soft, grounded, and intentional.

My reflections—lunchtime diaries, vlogs of simple days in San Francisco, stories about resilience, family, and rediscovery—are my way of bringing humanity back into healthcare and back into myself.

This blog is not just a creative outlet. It is a space for honesty, connection, and community. A space where I can show the world that wellness isn’t just clinical. It’s emotional. Mental. Cultural. Spiritual. Human.

Why I Share My Story

I share my experiences because I’ve learned that authenticity heals.
It brings people together.
It reminds us we are not alone.

Through my content, I hope to:
• inspire others to honor their truth,
• make space for softness in a demanding world,
• empower those navigating their own healing,
• and amplify the voices of communities often overlooked.

My purpose lies at the intersection of medicine and storytelling—caring for the whole person, not just the diagnosis.

This is the life I’m building: one rooted in compassion, representation, and the belief that our stories matter.

Thank you for being here.
Thank you for being part of my journey.

Welcome to Diary of a Nurse Practitioner.
Welcome to my softness era.
