A Peaceful Sunday in Nature: Healing, Hiking, and Finding My Happy Place
Good morning, everyone, and happy Sunday!
Today was one of those days that reminded me why I truly love living in the Bay Area. We spent the morning exploring one of the quieter neighborhoods in Belmont, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how peaceful it was. Even though the Bay Area is known for its busy cities, traffic, and high cost of living, there are still these hidden pockets of nature that feel like a completely different world. Standing there surrounded by tall trees, fresh air, and the sounds of birds singing made me realize just how much I crave this kind of environment. If I don’t eventually move to the Philippines in the future, I honestly think I would love to settle somewhere like this—a quieter part of the Bay Area where nature is just outside my front door. I can absolutely picture myself living here, waking up every morning with a cup of coffee before heading out for a walk on the trails.

The weather today was absolutely perfect. The sun was shining, there was a cool breeze flowing through the trees, and everything felt calm and peaceful. It honestly felt like another one of my favorite “ASMR sunbath” mornings where all you hear is the gentle whisper of the wind and birds singing in the distance. There’s something incredibly healing about letting the sun warm your skin while you’re surrounded by greenery. Nature has always had a way of slowing my thoughts down, and today was no exception. Sometimes the best therapy isn’t sitting inside a room—it’s simply walking outside, breathing fresh air, soaking up some vitamin D, and allowing yourself to exist in the present moment.
As someone who has spent years working as a nurse, I’ve learned that taking care of other people often comes naturally, but remembering to take care of yourself requires intention. During the COVID pandemic, when so many people were afraid to be around healthcare workers, hiking became one of my greatest escapes. I remember feeling isolated during that time, and the trails became my safe place. Nature never judged me, never avoided me, and never made me feel alone. Instead, it welcomed me with open arms every single time. Walking through the forests, climbing hills, and listening to the sounds around me gave me peace when life felt uncertain. Today’s hike brought back those memories and reminded me that healing isn’t always dramatic—sometimes it’s simply choosing to step outside.

One thing I’ve been working on lately is managing my anxiety and quieting my overthinking. Like many people, my mind sometimes races faster than I want it to. I’ve been practicing slowing down, taking deeper breaths, and reminding myself that not everything needs an immediate solution. Today’s hike was exactly what I needed. Every step along the trail felt like I was letting go of another anxious thought. Instead of worrying about tomorrow, I focused on the sounds around me—the rustling leaves, the birds, the breeze, and the peaceful silence between conversations. It’s amazing how our bodies naturally begin to relax when we spend time in places that genuinely bring us joy.
I also feel incredibly grateful to have such a thoughtful partner who always seems to find beautiful hiking spots that I probably never would have discovered on my own. Today’s trail surprised me almost immediately. We had only been walking for about fifteen or twenty minutes when I found myself completely amazed by how beautiful everything was. It felt like we had left the city behind and entered an entirely different world. Every turn revealed another scenic overlook, another peaceful grove of trees, or another breathtaking view.
Eventually we reached the lake, and it was absolutely stunning. The trail loops around the water, making it one of those hikes where the journey itself is the destination. The lake reflected the sky so beautifully, surrounded by native plants, wildflowers, and lush greenery. I couldn’t help but wonder whether people fish there. I jokingly asked if there were sea bass before quickly realizing that it’s a lake, not the ocean. Maybe lake bass? Honestly, I’m still learning! We even spotted little fish swimming in the water, quietly going about their day while we admired the scenery.
One of my favorite parts of today’s hike was simply stopping every so often to appreciate the views. There were gorgeous hillsides, wooden bridges, colorful wildflowers, and even adorable dogs enjoying the trails with their owners. We passed one particularly cute green doodle that immediately made me smile. Moments like those remind me how much happiness can come from the smallest things.
As we continued walking, I found myself imagining what life would be like if I actually lived nearby. Imagine having trails like these just outside your neighborhood. I joked that I’d probably become the fittest and sexiest version of myself because I’d be walking four times a day! Of course, reality quickly humbled me when I remembered that I currently live right next to a gym…and somehow still haven’t joined after saying I would for over a year. It’s funny how we always think a different environment will magically solve everything, when sometimes we simply need to take the first step ourselves.
The hike definitely challenged me physically. There were quite a few steep inclines that had me sweating almost immediately. By the end of some of those uphill sections, I was breathing hard and wondering how I had gotten so out of shape. It was a humbling reminder that I need to be more consistent with my fitness goals. Still, instead of criticizing myself, I chose to celebrate the fact that I showed up today. Progress doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from simply getting outside and moving your body. Whether it was three miles or closer to five by the time we explored every little side trail, I felt proud of finishing the entire loop.
One thing I love about hiking is that it’s never really about reaching the end. It’s about everything you experience along the way. Every conversation, every deep breath, every scenic overlook, every bird singing in the trees, every flower blooming along the path—they all become part of the memory. Life works the same way. We’re often so focused on our next goal that we forget to appreciate the journey that’s unfolding right in front of us.
As someone who shares my life on YouTube, I also wanted to thank everyone who continues to support my healing journey. Thank you for watching my videos, subscribing, liking, commenting, and encouraging me to keep creating. It honestly means so much to me. I’ve noticed our subscriber percentage slowly growing, and every single person who joins this little community motivates me to keep sharing more of my authentic life. I know many of you enjoy my yoga videos, my cooking adventures, and traveling with my mom, but I also want to show this side of myself—the girl who loves hiking, camping, exploring nature, and taking care of her mental health. English isn’t my first language, so thank you for always showing me kindness and patience. What you see is simply me being myself.
I also found myself getting excited thinking about my upcoming family trip to Japan. My mom, my brother, and I will be visiting my oldest brother, who is currently stationed in Okinawa with the Navy. I’m especially looking forward to spending quality time together and hopefully enjoying lots of incredibly fresh seafood since my brother loves fishing. Having something exciting to look forward to while also appreciating today reminded me that life is full of beautiful moments both big and small.
By the time we reached the end of the trail, I was completely drenched in sweat—but it felt amazing. There’s something deeply satisfying about earning your exhaustion through movement rather than spending the day sitting indoors. Of course, after all that hiking, my first thought was food. I couldn’t stop thinking about celebrating with an In-N-Out Double-Double and a strawberry milkshake. I think I definitely earned it today!
Looking back on this Sunday, I feel incredibly grateful. Grateful for my health, grateful for the sunshine, grateful for the beautiful Bay Area trails, grateful for the people I love, and grateful for another opportunity to heal both my mind and body. Nature continues to remind me that healing doesn’t happen overnight. It happens one step at a time, one deep breath at a time, and one peaceful walk at a time.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, lonely, or simply stuck, I encourage you to go outside. Find a park, a hiking trail, a beach, or even just a quiet neighborhood to walk through. Let yourself breathe. Listen to the birds. Feel the warmth of the sun. You may be surprised how much lighter your heart feels afterward.

Thank you so much for following along on my healing journey, my hiking journey, and my YouTube journey. I hope today’s adventure inspires you to spend a little more time outdoors and a little more time being kind to yourself.
Until next time, have a beautiful week, stay active, and remember that sometimes the journey itself is the greatest destination.
Happy Sunday!
